The why behind

Maple Change Consulting

Maple trees are big, strong and long-lasting. They achieve their long-term growth with constant change as they move through the seasons.

New branches form.
New buds form.
New leaves grow.
Leaves change colour – individually.
Leaves fall and the cycle begins again, with a bigger, stronger trunk and roots.

Successful companies are the same, their growth and success depends on every individual leaf playing a part.

Alas, humans don’t instinctively move through cycles of change. In fact, we’re more likely to resist it.

Why our approach works

Maple Change Consulting

– We have a flexible and adaptable approach.
– We aren’t tied to any specific methodology. We can work with your organization’s change approach, or introduce one appropriate for your project and needs.
– We’ll right-size and focus your efforts. Any chance management effort is better than none at all, even if you are not working with your preferred budget, timeline or scope.
– We’ll help build change capacity within your own organization, so you’re set up better for future changes.
– We focus on the interrelationship with project management, operational readiness and internal comms.
– We know that introducing something new is often the easy part – it’s letting go of the old that’s hard!

Thinking About Change

Imagine rolling out a mandatory respirator program…

It’s a technical change, right?

If you’ve spent much time in an industrial setting in the past decade, you know that “wear this new PPE” seldom goes smoothly.

Especially when there’s real impacts to peoples’ day to day lives: like no longer being allowed to have a beard, or having to carve out the time to be clean shave every morning.

There’s the increased difficulty in communicating with each other due to wearing respirators.

There’s complaints that they are uncomfortable.

There’s not short-term, immediate health consequences to make the consequences of not wearing a respirator “real”.

Those are just some highlights (lowlights) and objections to respirators. There’s also training, fitting programs, inventory management, determining and enforcing a new discipline escalation system, a rewards and communication plan, signage, storage and a million little details required to have a successful, safe, rollout.

Creating a cohesive plan, to bring your organization along for the ride, is where Maple Change Consulting can support.

Respirators are a technical change with a concrete outcome. More challenging are cultural changes, like the move to culture based safety programs, or creating respectful diverse workplaces.
