“We hit go-live and the results didn’t come as quickly as we expected.”
– Basically Every Project Ever
All projects have hiccups, whether they are the ones identified in a risk session or gifts from unexpected gremlins. Often, the least-anticipated and hardest to manage are the people-related aspects of projects.
Sometimes the gremlins are grouches – naysayers with loud voices and sway in an organization. Other times the gremlins are “we don’t know how to copy & paste, let alone run a new computer program” and no one expected such a low level of technological literacy in the workforce. Like these two examples, a lot of gremlins are humans and their behaviour, not bad weather or backordered parts.
Change management is all about bringing your people along for the ride,
to make your project implementation go more smoothly,
so you can see the results more quickly.
Do any of these sound familiar?
